The Raleigh (NC) Chapter was awarded two 2020-2021 Programming Signature Grants by the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated. The first grant was awarded to the Arts Facet to implement the “Connecting Threads” initiative. In partnership with the African American Quilt Circle of Durham, the Chapter has hosted virtual quilt making workshops with students from Southeast Raleigh Elementary School and members of the chapter to learn how to make quilts and the history of quilt making in the African American community.
This photo collage was submitted to the Southern Area in February 2021 reflecting the progress on creating two quilts. The first quilt created with students from Southeast Raleigh Elementary School was based around the themes of “Hopes and Dreams” and “Family.” The second quilt is being created by members of the Raleigh (NC) Chapter around the theme of “Helping Hands.”
