Join us for snacks, discussion and a screening of “The Right to Read”, a documentary that follows Oakland NAACP activist, Kareem Weaver Wednesday, January 31st 6 - 8 p.m. Weaver believes literacy is our most important civil right. With a focus on Black and brown children, Kareem demands Oakland schools bring in science-based reading instruction. Our branch is a collection site for Wake Up and Read's book drive, bring a new or gently used book to donate when you come. This screening is free for the community and childcare is provided for Y members and guests in Kid Zone. Sign up here!
